Oooh, the RIP Challenge! This challenge holds a special place in my heart, as my first challenge ever, and is also super fun because I get to read scary things in time for Hallowe'en. Wonderful!
As Carl writes... "There are two simple goals for the R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril V Challenge:
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others."
Cannot go wrong!
I will again be going with Peril the First, which involves reading four books of the mystery/suspense/thriller/dark fantasy/gothic/horror/supernatural variety... so limiting, right? I may also try the Peril on the Screen, which means watching creepy movies, but I'm way out of the loop on those so I'll need your advice!
For this year, I'll start with these books in my pool, unless you have others to tempt me with?
Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
The Shining, by Stephen King
Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie
Books:
1. Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie (Review)
2. The Black Minutes, by Martín Solares (Review)
3. The Dead-Tossed Waves, by Carrie Ryan (Review)
4. The Postman Always Rings Twice, by James M. Cain (Review)
5. Double Indemnity, by James M. Cain (Review)
6. The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson (Review)

Great choice of books!
Please do check out the books I already read for RIP V.
I'm so honored that RIP IV was your first reading challenge. Thank you for joining in again this year. Wonderful choice of books!
Rebecca and Murder on the Orient Express are both awesome books. I have the Poirot one on audiobook and listened to it multiple times on my way back and forth from TN. It's narrated by the same guy who plays Poirot, David Suchet, which really just kind of makes the book in my opinion. It's also a classic movie if you would like to check that off your movies of peril list.
I have actually seen the movie versions of both Rebecca and Murder, which is part of the reason I feel like I really need to read the books. :)
All four are good reads. Enjoy!
What a great list! I've actually read all four (that's a first for me in checking out other lists!), and I can safely and truthfully say that they are all absolutely excellent books. The Shirley Jackson is actually one of my favorite books. You have some real treats ahead of you.
(And isn't the Hitchcock Rebecca just fantastic?)
Murder on the Orient Express is an almost perfect mystery. It reminded me I should reread more Christie mysteries.
